2. Guidelines for Computer Workstations
نویسندگان
چکیده
INTRODUCTION Guidelines for office computer workstations are present in many forms, from recognised international and national standards, to ergonomic texts, to guidelines either in written booklet format or, more recently, information provided electronically via occupational health and safety websites (OSHA, 2001). The currency of published guidelines is of concern, given the recent changes in computer hardware and the increasing amount of research regarding workstation configurations and equipment.

متن کاملAssembly line balancing problem with skilled and unskilled workers: The advantages of considering multi-manned workstations
This paper address a special class of generalized assembly line balancing in which it is assumed that there are two groups of workers: skilled and unskilled ones. The skilled workers are hired permanently while the unskilled ones can be hired temporarily in order to meet the seasonal demands. It is also assumed that more than one worker may be assigned to each workstation. To show the adv...
متن کاملPreparation of modern anesthesia workstations for malignant hyperthermia-susceptible patients: when are they really clean?
Introduction: Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a rare, potentially fatal genetic disorder characterized by increased cellular metabolism of skeletal muscle in response to succinylcholine and certain inhalational anesthetics. The Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States (MHAUS) has established guidelines for the perioperative management of MH-susceptible patients to minimize their r...
متن کاملWorkstation design in carpet hand-weaving operation: guidelines for prevention of musculoskeletal disorders.
Carpet weavers suffer from musculoskeletal problems mainly attributed to poor working postures. Their posture is mostly constrained by the design of workstations. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of 2 design parameters (weaving height and seat type) on postural variables and subjective experience, and to develop guidelines for workstation adjustments. At an experimental works...
متن کاملCodes for the Modelling of Stellar Structures: Parallel Implementations on a Workstation LAN
In the past couple of years, modelling of stellar structures has become increasingly important at our institute. The codes used for this kind of computations are very demanding in terms of CPU power, and most of them are suited to parallel processing. In this paper, we discuss practical examples of porting codes for stellar structures modelling, developed on sequential computers, into a paralle...
